“SEWING ADVENTURE”
WITH CHRIS DOLINAR

She’s back!  We begged and plotted and really scored!  Chris is one of the most in-demand of the talented Viking Educators  (you’ve probably seen her on TV) — so we got lucky!
Chris will have something creative and useful for sewers of ANY interest and with ANY machine.  She will have a very heavy suitcase full of samples of clothing, home dec, quilting, embroidery, and felting projects to show us.  And did we mention she’s smart and funny and really good at all aspects of our sport?  This will be a whole-day adventure including lunch.
Chris has been here before, so many of us know how entertaining and inspiring she is.  We’ll have a lot of fun and fill our brains to overflowing with new ideas!  $50 includes lunch.
Saturday, September 20, 10:30-5pm

We welcome

Do you love a good mystery?  Do like suspense and intrigue and a surprise package every month, either in your own mailbox or here at the store?
Roxanne and Sandy have sleuthed and investigated and found a great mystery quilt program for you.  This is a traditional style pattern that can have a contemporary or classic flavor, depending on your choice between the two fabric selections.
The cost of the total program will be $100 for a throw size quilt and $175 for queen size, including fabric and patterns.  Shipping charges are extra.  You will receive 8 “clues,” one per month beginning in October.

SATURDAY SAMPLER

How can you make a whole sampler wall hanging for  just a couple yards of fabric and $7.00?  Join us at Saturday Sampler!

Come at 9:30 Saturday morning October 4, and buy your basic fabric and initial block kit. Learn how to make it, and with the block completed, come back the first Saturday morning of the next month, and get that month’s block free!  Then do the same drill for seven more months.

It’s such a great deal that you need to sign up really fast, as we have to limit the size of the group to fit us all in!

 DON’T MISS
 “QUILTERS”

THE MUSICAL BY
 THUNDER RIVER THEATER

Quilters” is the story of the lives of pioneer women as told through their quilts.  Performances will begin Sept. 25 at the theatre in downtown Carbondale.  Terry Lee, our talented, art-quilting new team member, is the Musical Director.  Call 963-8200 for information.

 NORTH AMERICAN MYSTERY SERIES

Travel along with one of our Ambassadors each month  to a North American state or country and learn about its history, quilting traditions, food and recipes.  We’ll have a party at each stop and a kit for a quilt with local flavor, in your choice of three colorways.  The quilts are all “throw” size (make them larger if you want, or buy one of each color) and are easy enough for seasoned beginners to make. The Ambassador will give a demo on making the quilt.  What’s mysterious?  You won’t know what the quilt looks like till the unveiling at the party!
Your ticket for each trip is $20 plus your kit for $35.  Or you can buy a “season pass” for $50.  Reservations are recommended, as space is limited.   Our talented Ambassadors Desha Bone Bierbaum, Sara Jaramillo, Julie Schuller-Brown, Robin Dillon Zupancic and Myra Tobias, are making quilts and taste-testing recipes now!
North American Mystery parties happen right after Saturday Sampler at 11:00am, beginning October 4.  The other months will be November, and January, February, and March of 2009.  And maybe more!

VIKING EMBROIDERY SOFTWARE CLUB
Stay and play the first Saturday of each month and explore some software features with
Mary Tencza/ Sandy/ Bob.  This is fun for current or beginning software users.
Each month we’ll have a topic and a short project, with plenty of time for questions on
it or other projects you may be working on.  October’s project will be uploading, downloading, updating, and more.  Stop hesitating and get creating!  $28 plus supplies.
We will meet the first Saturdays of the month, 2-4:30pm, after Saturday Sampler and Mystery Series.  Whew!  We’re having way too much fun!

FYI:  “Beginning Sewing” and “Beginning Quilting” are two evening classes offered through CMC and held at Glenwood Sew this fall.  They will be taught by Sandy Boyd and Robin Dillon Zupancic.  “Beginning Sewing” starts September 25, and “Beginning Quilting” starts October 22.  To sign up call CMC or call us at Glenwood Sew for information.

VIKING CLUB
$85 is money well spent for a year in Viking Club!  (We’ll pro-rate for the remaining months of the year if there is space.)  Get a 10% discount on all your Viking stuff all year –including designs and software!  We have a class/meeting the fourth Friday of each month, where we work on a project that teaches you something about your wonderful Husqvarna Viking sewing machine.  We have Show & Tell for inspiration, and we have a lot of fun.  Do the math –$85 for 12 classes is $7.08 for each class -– even if you come to only three of the classes, you’ve gotten your money’s worth!  Sign up and reserve your spot, because Viking Club has a maximum number of members. Remaining clubs this year are September 26, October 24, November 28, December 19 or 26. Viking Club 2009 begins on January 23.

EMBROIDERY CLUB:  “ROSES IN BLOOM”
“Roses In Bloom” is an appliqué quilt designed for your embroidery machine.   Pictured here are some of the pretty embroidered elements in the quilt.  Bring your Viking embroidery machine and learn and laugh in the company of friends.  Gain skill and confidence as we embroider and appliqué (in the hoop) these gorgeous designs.  And then we’ll incorporate the embroideries into a large lap quilt that we’ll help you finish.  Beginning embroiderers welcome.  Hands-on learning is the best!
“Roses in Bloom” embroidery club will be held the second Friday of the month, October 10, November 14, and December 12, 2-4:30pm. The cost of the program, including the design software, is $110 plus fabric and stabilizer.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME CLASSES?

We believe in Santa Claus! Sometimes he wears a brown uniform and comes in a brown truck labeled UPS and brings us wonderful shipments of new fabrics! We can hardly wait to open the big cardboard boxes and expose their wondrous contents. The “oohs” and “wows” and ideas start to flow.

If you happen to be in the store when one of these frequent events occurs — join in! If not, check out our new arrivals on our website. (If only you could fondle the fabrics on line!) If you want to see it better, just click on the fabric to get a larger view. If you want to own some of these beauties, just call or email us and we’ll make it happen for you! These fabrics are in the $8.99 - $9.99 range.

And remember, we always love to see you so come on in!
