RASPBERRY MOCHA MYSTERY QUILT At International Quilt Market this spring, Sandy and Roxanne found this Mystery Quilt program. It sparkles with color and movement, and is not challenging to assemble. It comes with great instructions and yardage for the different sizes you might want to make. We have selected two “coordinated scrappy” colorways for your approval. Choose between traditional browns with red accents or contemporary navy/aqua spritzed with raspberry. Oh the decisions we have to make – color, size, oh my!          You’ll get a “clue” each month for 10 months that can be picked up at the store or mailed to your home. Once you’re “clued in” each month, assemble the units and try to figure out where we’re going with this. The suspense! You’ll get your fabrics and your first clue in September.            The cost for lap/twin size is $160 and $205 for queen size. We recommend ordering your finishing kit when you sign up because, as you know, once modern fabrics are sold out we can’t get any more!

raspberry-mocha-mystery.jpgThe two color choices are shown here.
These have nothing to do with the pattern, they are only for color!

Come sign up, select your colorway and size, and get sewin’

SATURDAY SAMPLER:  “A BASKET CASE”
Would you like to make this quilt top — with patterns and lessons from the experts — for only $7.00 and 2 yards of fabric?  First you have to salivate over the colorways and select the knock-your-socks-off bright colors, or luscious rich pastels.  Or, make it easy on yourself and just do one of each!
But that’s not all! This year you can choose what size to make your quilt, from small wall-hanging size to queen size.  We’re making nine basket blocks in the program.  If you want, you can purchase the booklet and extra fabric to make additional baskets and alternate blocks for any size quilt your heart desires.
Here’s the way it works.  When you sign up you buy 1¼ yards of the gradated focal fabric (same dye lot, so all your blocks match) and ¾ yard of sashing color for the nine basket blocks.  You buy the first block kit for $7.00 and come to the mini-class meeting at 9:30am on Saturday, October 2nd.   Make the block at home and bring it finished to the next class (on the first Saturday of November).  You’ll receive the next block kit free, to make and bring in the first Saturday of the following month.  The program will run through June.*
All of the blocks are easy to accomplish with our sizzling instructions and you will learn some great new techniques.  Sign up soon, we have a limit on the number of participants that we have room for!

*Or, if you live too far away or are always busy on Saturday mornings, buy your fabrics and make this quilt as a Block of the Month!   Just buy the initial fabric and get the instructions for $7 per month plus postage.  It will still be tons of fun.

VIKING CLUB
Familiarize yourself with your Viking sewing machine’s stitches, feet, and accessories.  We’ll emphasize different techniques each session and take inspiration from the block-of-the-month project we’ve been learning from, called Stitcher’s Garden.  You don’t have to make a quilt from your completed decorative blocks; you may prefer to use these pretty floral pieces for pillows or bags or table dressing.  Gain confidence, learn useful stuff, and have fun!  Remember, as a member of Viking Club, you get a discount on Viking feet, accessories, designs, etc.  If you’re not yet a member, the cost for the remainder of the year is $38.  Sept. 24, Oct. 22, Nov. 19, Dec. 17, from 11am to 2pm

SOFTWARE CLUB: SOFTWARE TO SEWING
Join Mary Tencza and learn more about your Viking embroidery software. It is so powerful; most of us barely scratch the surface of what it can do. Each month there will be a software project that will then be sewn out. See how designs on the screen and in thread can look different! $32 per session The first Friday of the month from 11-4pm

October 1: Do everything with pumpkins except make a pie!
November 5: Explore the “encore” function and become a sweatshirt fashionista
December 3: Nature makes all her snowflakes different and so can you!
